zhuma, 18.06.2011 12:28 I'm amazed even 20 years after the end of cold war, anti communist black'and'white style propaganda still has such strong effect. reply | Klaatu, e-mail, 12.04.2011 19:19 "The DVB-102 was a long-range, high-altitude bomber. The Soviets had already decided to copy the B-29 AS EARLY AS 1942? I hardly think so, since the prototype B-29 hadn't even flown yet!
More likely the Soviet Government cancelled this project because they preferred to devote their resources into less expensive and complex tactical aircraft that could be produced in large quantities; such as the Il-2, Yak-9, La-5, Pe-2 and Tu-2 reply | Sturm, 31.05.2010 02:23 What a pity that such a pretty plane did not get to fly. reply | Art Deco, 24.06.2009 21:00 A real PhD should know how to spell it...and Physics. Politics never built planes. Companies never built planes. (great ones) People, as BSP states, build planes. Many great men have strived to create great aircraft under adversity caused by political bumbling, corporate brainfog or the dread financial shortcomings. I could name names but the list of my favorites is too long. Vladimir wasn't one of them but he wasn't the worst. reply |
| Alex Bodney, e-mail, 24.06.2009 17:51 Nick, as a highly educated person you should know, that Soviet Union climbed from a vast feudal empire into the world superpower, leading on many areas, especially science (check the staff in "your" phisics institutes for example), with only US being able to compete and to be compared with them. And they did this under communism.
I'm amazed even 20 years after the end of cold war, anti communist black'and'white style propaganda still has such strong effect. reply | Jim Llopyd, e-mail, 20.04.2009 06:53 Why is it that an interesting airplane generates a political statement like Dr. Nick Stage PHD feels he must make. Very strange and who cares if you're a PHD. Many of us are. Get a life and enjoy the planes! reply | BSP, e-mail, 30.10.2008 20:09 "Individual thinking" is produced by individuals and not by political visions themselves. Very pretty note and just as actual. reply | Dr. Nick Stage--PHD., e-mail, 09.11.2007 20:11 Very promising, but with 3 "interned" USAAF B-29s, it was easier for Stalin to "develop" their long-range copy, the not-so-good replica-bomber, the Tupolev TU-4 "Bull". The then Soviet Union, was still several years behind the United States.
Communism did not, and does not, produce any real individual thinking. The failed "command-side" economy was, and is, a failure. reply |
