Arado SD III1929 |
FIGHTER | Virtual Aircraft Museum / Germany / Arado |
Built in parallel with the SD II, the SD III employed a basically similar airframe, but replaced the geared engine with a direct-drive Siemens und Halske-built Jupiter VI with a maximum output of 510hp and a smaller-diameter two-bladed propeller. The contours of the forward fuselage were revised and a shorter undercarriage with increased rake was fitted. Armament was identical to that of the SD II, and the SD III similarly served as a development aircraft for the Ar 64 fighter.
