Designed as a replacement for the Aero A.11, the Aero Ap32, and the Letov S.16, by the time it took to the skies in 1933 this rather ungainly plane was virtually obsolescent. Some 44 were built flying with the Czechoslovak Air Force and a few being used by the Luftwaffe and the puppet Slovak Air Force. Most were retrired by 1940.
