Formed 1936, after Dean B. Hammond and Lloyd Stearman (see Hammond and Stearman entries) had spent two years developing the Hammond Model Y two-seat twinboom pusher monoplane and the type had been granted an Approved Type Certificate. Aircraft had been redesigned for production as Y-1S and a few built before work was abandoned in 1938.
