Wallis never sold any plans or Plan kits or kits to build
After an air show crash only Ken Wallis flew all his Own machines.
Little Nell was built by Beagle-Miles aircraft Ltd
If they are still around maybe they have plans they built from ?

Are either of those kits available for sale? What happened to the original Little Nelly? Thanks Brian

I got a solution but it meant I had to cut the hydras. Using 2 M60s with same loadout of 50 rpg, as well as two stingers, and the hydra pods, it has plenty of weight left over. If you only have 8 hydras its in...but without a pilot. Put him in and you might just make it using JATO units instead of flamethrowers. It could just be possible but will certainly need some work.
Rhys Modica, e-mail, 10.04.2022 00:50
Certainly one of my favourites. Shame however it would be unable to carry the payload in the film due to the sheer weight. Using real word similar weapons weights are as follows: (85.3kg *2) basing on sidewinder missiles, (38*12.3kg) for hydra 70 rocket, (2*11kg) for launcher, (2*10.5kg) for m60 machine gun, 2.5kg worth of ammunition (about 50 rounds per gun). This excludes the flamethrower and the pilot.
so that's 249kg max weight - (170.6+467.4+22+21+2.5)=249-683.5 =-434.5kg
Anyone got any idea on how we could lose some of that weight?

Cleaning out in my workshop recently and came across two unmade Airfix Wallis Little Nellie kitsets . I am looking forward to constructing these models , I have had for many years . I have always found Ken Wallis and his Gyrocopters very very interesting over the years , and even though he left us in 2013 i still watch regularly the videos on line of him and his machines in action . I hope that interest in this most amazing man never waynes .
James .

Hi, Where can i obtain this plan to build myself and the engine to run it?
Nissanka Abeyratne, e-mail, 09.10.2017 09:52
In 1960s a known gent was flying the little nelly here in Srilanka. Then I was interested in B8 Bensen Gyrocopter which was simlple Tricycle type design. I have baught plans directly from Bensen in 1983. Its shows 50cc engine fixed to rotor for jump T.o but does not show how to assemble it.Does anyone has Drawings of this Item. because i like KITING than power gyro. Thanks.Nissanka.

Huh... Give her a composite shell and a low-noise motor, M60 machine guns, AIM-92 Stingers and lightweight rocket pods and the old girl might actually be practical as a covert scout aircraft! Hang on, let me email the MoD... ;-)

Nobody here has told the fact that the little Nelly and it's civil version are availlable virtually for Flight Simulator 9, and it works fine in FS X after updating it's panel. It can be downloaded from the specialized simulator sites such as flightsim.com or avsim.com ; I can help with the updating of panel.

hello, sorry for my English I am French. I am impassioned by aeronautics and I would like to know if it would be possible for me to build a WA-116. thank you
Greg D, e-mail, 22.09.2008 18:59
My grandad, Ted Hughes, worked on the chasis of the original WA 116. He used a pioneering welding technique of time to weld part of the frame together.
He has since passed on but if anyone has any further knowledge of him and his work on this then please email me.
Greg

Is it possible to aquire the constuction plans of the wallis gyro?
Dr. Bruce Charnov, e-mail, 20.07.2008 02:10
'Little Nellie' is not a helicopter, despite the reference in the Bond movie - it is an autogyro and while it can land vertically and take off after a short run (it cannot make a 'jump takeoff'), it cannot hover - the rotor is unpowered in flight. I have seen a lot of articles on the autogyro but nowhere can I find how much one costs. Can you help?
RON, e-mail, 02.06.2008 13:44
Robb, dont know if you are UK based, but a full size replica is on permanent display in London's Planet Hollywood in Leicester Square. Ken Wallis unfortunately does not market his autogyros,he utilises the 13 machines in his hangar for various projects.
All his machines have the same body shell that he manufactures from his own moulds, though a few of his aircraft are open framed, like the two seater that appeared in the film Martian Chronicles. Another one of his machines appeared in the 'spoof' James Bond film Dick Smart secret agent 2.007 1/2.
Closest design to Ken's are the Wombat, the late Chris Julian's design + Peter Lovegrove's Cricket + Gary Layzell's AV-18B.
