Andy. the germans fielded various helicopters in combat in ww2 and they were very hard to shoot down, but their factories were bombed regularly.

In the film "Where Eagles Dare" there is a German helicoptor shown, "My toy" as the general calls it. I have looked through the designs shown here and this is the closest to the film one (which was a Bell 47 prod 1946).

Did any of the German models ever make it past the experimental stages? e.g. Could they have used a mock up of this to make the film more realistic?

This is only a light hearted comment. Not to be taken too seriously cos the germans had lost air control by 1944 and a helicopter would have lasted about 10 mins in the air.
