This aircraft was based on the earlier MF6 and MF7, with a changed fuselage profile and a revised wing. The first two aircraft, which flew in 1924, had Scania Vabis engines which proved too weak. Subsequent engines tried included Beardmore, Sunbeam, Mercedes, Walter Regulus and Bristol Lucifer, until the manufacturer found surplus Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah IIA which they were able to obtain for 500 Kroner a piece. There were 8 built in total and towards the end of their life they were re-engined with Jacobs L-4M. Five were still in service in December 1939 and were put in storage, eventually being captured by the Germans in April 1940.
