Designed by Richard Vogt to meet an IJA requirement for a fighter biplane. After 5 prototypes were built a production order for 180 Type 92 Model 1 was placed with a further order for 200 improved Model 2, which featured a strengthened structure and more powerful BMW VII 750 h.p. engine.

Looks to me the Japs just copied of the Heinkel 52 biplane fighter. Wish the U.S. was good at making aircraft like the Japs. We couldn't make shit back then!
