The Estonian Open Air Museum, which is located close to the city in Rocca al Mare, is one of the few open air museums in Europe,
and even the world, that is open year round, with almost no days off. The handicraft shop near the museum's main gate and the Kolu
kõrts that serves Estonian national food are also open every day. During the summer period, 11 farm complexes with 72 buildings
are open to visitors, in addition to single buildings that have played an important role in Estonian village life such as an inn, school,
chapel, fire shed and windmills. There are approximately 60,000 objects in the museum's
collections and over 100,000 people visit the museum every year.
