Helwan's first
project was license-manufacture of the Spanish Hispano
HA-200 Saeta jet trainer, known in Egypt as Al Kahira.
German designer Willy Messerschmitt led a Helwan team
to develop the HA-300 supersonic fighter, first flown in
prototype form in March 1964.
