EUROPEAN AIRBUS

INTERNATIONAL

The name European Airbus was used throughout the late 1960s, predating the Airbus Industrie entry in this book. In June 1965 the first discussions were held between British and French industrial representatives concerning a collaborative project for a large-capacity short-medium range transport; almost simultaneously a study group was formed in Germany. There were talks and proposals every year until Airbus Industrie was founded in 1969.
