Yakovlev VVP-6

Development of jet-lift V/STOL aircraft made it desirable also to develop supporting vehicles able to supply the dispersed and frequently moved operating bases with food, fuel and munitions, and also to provide defence. Yakovlev produced this remarkable project for a complete flying SAM (surface-to-air missile) system.

The huge box-like fuselage, some 49m long, carried six V-750 (11D) or V-755 (20D) [ASCC name 'Guideline'] missiles ready to fire on their launchers, plus reloads and the supporting radars and auxiliary power supplies. It was lifted by six six-blade rotors, each driven by four turboshaft engines. The requirement evaporated with failure to put land-based V/STOLs into service.

Hello,

I am looking for information on an experimental helicopter that didn’t get put on the active list of Russian Helicopters.
I like the style of the VVP-6 and wonder if you know where I can get a rough plans to build a RC Replica of the airframe.

Thanks

Michael

I find it funny that you call it a flying SAM system, wouldn't it NOT be a SAM - but an air to air system.

Victor, e-mail, 14.12.2010reply

Noha307; it's a SAM system because it needs to land to fire

Unfortunat that what we westeners know only as much as we'r allowed to.Nowadays thanks to internet,we all can learn who made what first. So before deciding what designers got from the video games,we better learn the years of this futuristic( even for today)projects been at least drawn!

Looks too slow to dodge any average missiles, and will need an advance fighter escort flying ahead with anti-missile capacity or massive angle flak guns or electronic jammers to stop missiles at reasonable range. Blast radius could down something like this even 3-10km away from the size of the explosions one sees sometimes.

With enough fuel stores, the craft would be able to alternate engines between cycles (as earlier envisioned?!?) preferably cold-fusion tech otherwise 60 year lifespan nuke power.

The danger of immoblity is very serious so bunkers are not the best method. The alternative is submarines, if hiding from enough survivors . . . the last of humanity could well be within this sort of craft. Russia selling a civilian version to plutocrats and elite groups yet?

For long term survival, a sealed colony module with food production capacity will be needed as well - small plants and small animals in a sealed system to feed as small a crew as possible, as the very air will be impossible to breathe, as many yeras worth of nano-filters and replacement fans components - it will be as if humanity had gone to another planet, only that the planet was made into another planet by man himself . . .)

Russia's elite (or any elite and plutocrats) could survive a nuke or bio holocaust. A multiple jumbojet engine propelled version rather than rotor, the size of a aircraft carrier able to reach sub-orbital heights would be a viable 'Ark' not like those ships in '2012 Film being buffetted about by waves. For the poor man though there's always the hot air balloon to last a few days or weeks at most to find out which places have not been irradiated or infected though probably the Earth is already infected by things like morgellons . . .

Wow, it's like the carryall from Command&Conquer video game. Is incredible how much CF from movies and video games is inspired in real life

Actually, helicopters do not fly, they just beat the air into submission.

This aircraft looks like the real Helicarrier for S.H.I.E.L.D. for any of you who have ever read Marvel Comic books and know who Nick Fury is.

Wow, this craft is really cool. Looks like some craft from the Science Fiction movies.Just great

This one gets the prize... Any prize... Imagine nowadays a squadron of them would carry an S-400 Regiment anywhere in 2-3 hours, land and fire in minutes!

Looks like a WWII LCUP

To USAF ... Actually, that old concept of the Bernoulli's principal is inaccurate. Truly, it is not considered the principal behind lift.

Unfortunately so is that of Aesthetic Repulsion. What really gets huglicopters off the ground is "incidence". That's just pilot shorthand for saying the "Dense dude inside" does it.

As "Dave" put it,"Interesting concept".

kiran, e-mail, 20.04.2009reply

will u send me model sketch of your project let me know something about your project please

USAF, e-mail, 12.05.2008reply

Did you know that, compared to most fixed-wing aircraft, all rotor craft rely on a different aerodynamic principle for flight?

Fixed wing aircraft rely on Bernoulli's principle, raising air pressure under the lifting surface relative to the pressure above it.

Rotorcraft, on the other hand, operate by Aesthetic Repulsion: they are so disgustingly ugly that the earth actually pushes them into the atmosphere.

I'd imagine this particular rotorcraft would fly exceedingly well.

mike, e-mail, 08.05.2008reply

is it safe ???

Dave, e-mail, 08.05.2008reply

Interesting concept (the aircraft), however the accident video link on your sight (free videos), require the installation of hard to remove spy ware (Zango)to view.
