Webb Scheutzow designed a small two-seat helicopter with a patented low-cost 'Flexihub' rotor head which relied on rubber mountings for the two main rotor blades and required no lubrication. The Scheutzow B was a side-by-side two seat helicopter with the classic layout of an enclosed fibreglass cabin, an engine in the centre section, tubular open frame rear boom and a fixed skid undercarriage. The prototype, N564A, flew on 26 January 1967, followed by three further examples, but the type failed to gain a Type Certificate and development was abandoned in the early 1970s. My husband, Robert Dee Gabriel, was a test pilot for Scheutzow Helicopter in 1971. I'm sure he would have some stories to tell. He passed away in 2000. I was happy to share the clip with my children and grandchildren of him as test pilot. | Roseanne Gabriel, e-mail, 25.08.2016 | reply |

I also worked on ground testing on various units for the certification requirements. I'm looking for other people who worked there in Columbia Station. |

I did some test flying for Webb also at Columbia Station before it was certified. I was with Toronto Helicopters at the time and we were hoping to get a dealership for Canada. Even took him for a flight which he wasn't suppose to do. Bunker Hunt also at one time. N5182 was one I flew. I have a few photos. | Sandy, e-mail, 14.12.2014 | reply |

THANKS RYAN! Had a blast watching that 'ol girl dance. Loved the rotor-head design - like the modern mosquito! So....where are any examples nowadays? | R Scheutzow, e-mail, 21.05.2010 | reply |

I only googled Scheutzow Helicopter because I was talking with a vietnam vet and asked if he heard of it. He did not. I said I was working at a law firm (Isham, Lincoln (as in Todd) and Beale in Chicago as a secretary at the time and there was some flurry around the office and I kept hearing Scheutzow Helicopter mentioned. Wondered if it had something to do with the war. It would have been around 1965 I would think. I'm sure the law firm has long ago been disbanded. Now that I saw a comment about Chicago and stock, perhaps that was it. The firm would have probably handled some stock transaction. Must have been a big deal then 'cuz lawyers in the firm were all abuzz. | Trudy Nelson, e-mail, 24.04.2010 | reply |
Am holding 20 shares of stock in Scheutzow Helicoptor Corp., from April 11, 1970, and wonder if they are of any value at this time. Please advise...Have been trying to contact the company for over a year, and always have my mail returned as undeliverable... | Don Bailey-CW4-USA (Ret), e-mail, 16.04.2010 | reply |
I was the FIRST test pilot of the Scheutzow B helicopter-early 1963 at the Strongsville, OH, airport. The initisal test flight made the BEREA NEWS front page [photo and article]on Thusrday, April 25,1963.BYLINE-Jim Byrne.(My passenger) I have the newspaper article /photo and several other b /w photos taken by Richard Russell-CW3 USA (Ret) on file. Russell, also made an 8mm movie of my first translational flight along the East /West runway at Strongsville airport. The 8mm film was passed along to Webb Scheutzow (inventor) and has been unable to be located, to this day.I also had stock in the Scheutzow company. My last telephonic communication from Webb Scheutzow was late '60s. I think he told me that his company had been purchased by the Hunt Bros. and had been moved to Dallas,TX. I was on a special helicopter test pilot assignment (Hiller-JOH-23L) with the US Army (Corps of Engineers) in the SW. U.S. at that time. This info can be confirmed by Rich Russell(eye witness), who currently resides in Novelty,OH. He can be reached by e-mail at richrusel@aol.com . Don Bailey..Bootjack, CA. I, too, own some stock shares, but I don't own a wall small enough to cover with them. Most days back in the sixties, I car-pooled with two other General Electric employees to the Evendale, OH Jet Engine plant. One rider named Vic, and engineer-type, was very enthusiatic about the B and talked me into investing in it. We also talked about other STO&L craft (Autogyros) and /or anything else that might make our commute from our Cincinnati homes in Westwood more pleasant and less time consuming. | THOMAS A. Hi, Just a question. Is there any value in the Scheutzow helicopter corp. stock? Thank You Tom Beck. |

I retired after 45 years in the industry working at Schweizer Aircraft who was manufacturing the Hughes 269C of all things. Talk about full cirtcle!
