This aircraft 3A-1 NX-1270 in late August 1944 was used to fly cartons of cigarettes from the downtown Boston area (or from East Boston Airport Now Logan Intl) to the Veterans Hospital in West Roxbury a section of Boston. This flight was sponsored by the Filenes Department Store chain. While in the Boston area it also made(possibly)the first commercial helicopter merchandise delivery from a Filenes warehouse in Cambridge, MA to a suburban Filenes store in Belmont MA. MA Aviaton Historical would welcome additional information on this helicopter for a future article in our YankeeFlyer Quarterly journal.
