As near as matters the name Scheldemusch means Scheldt sparrow in English and the one off flying boat version in turn was known as the Scheldemeeuw or Scheldt Gull. It flew for the first time in November 1935 and it would appear that all were lost with the exception of the one that had been shown to the R.A.F. that apparently was still extent in the 1960's.

Cant believe it even more fun. A couple of videos on UTube of this and of all things the seaplane version.. 40hp seaplane = impressive

Over the years a number of good aeroplanes have served but one purpose , fun.

Hai, this small plane was designed to fly as cheap as possible in the 30's. Of the 6 built one flew well into the '60s in the UK. Two replica's are now (2016) under construction, one to fly with the original engine found in the UK. The plane remains most popular!

Barry, 15.05.2012 17:51

Manufacture was, or was going to be, undertaken in the U.K. by Heston Aircraft.

This aircraft was created as scout aircraft, not as fighter. But was more used as pleasure aircraft since the Dutch airforce did not see the point in this design.

The de Schelde Scheldemusch was a single seat pusher biplane designed in Holland to be easy and safe to fly. It was one of the first light aircraft to use a tricycle undercarriage. Despite a sales campaign in the UK, only six were built, one being briefly tested by the RAF. A single example of a flying boat version, one of the smallest of this class, was also built.

An attempt to recreate the glory of british fighters of 1915,is that Lanoe Hawker in the pilot seat? Now I know who stole the wheels from my wagon.
