In 1930 Berliner-Joyce was purchased by North American Aviation and first became a subsidiary and, later, became completely absorbed, so that the name disappeared. In 1934 Berliner left North American to work for The Engineering and Research Corporation (makers of the famous "Ercoupe") while Joyce left to work for Bellanca.
