I want to thank ROOTKITS CREDIT SPECIALIST for assisting me in reaching my dream of purchasing my own home. They helped me repair my credit. I am extremely thankful for the professional assistance given me. I was tired of being declined loans due to my old past mistakes, until a realtor recommended their services. In less than 15 days they helped me erase negative items and boosted my score to excellent across all three bureaus. Contact them via ROOTKITSCREDITSPECIALIST@GMAIL.COM, don’t forget to mention me.

I strongly recommend 760Plus Credit Score. They really helped me so much, after already paying a con-artist who just took my money and did nothing for over a year, I discovered 760PLUSCREDITSCORE AT GMAIL DOT COM in a credit forum, they immediately showed results and even guided me on what my best solution for my trade in for a new vehicle would be with a lower approximate % and not to mention how well they inform me and explain to me everything that's going on with my credit. Thank you the team at 760Plus.

Today April 23, 2017 is the 80th anniversary of an accident in which my uncle Colonel Jorge Marcano flying a Fairchild 71 over the jungles of the Cuyuni River in southern Venezuela managed to land the plane over the treetops when the fuel was exhausted because of an inadvertent leak. Despite suffering serious injuries, he and the rest of the passengers, except one, survived. Thank you for this beautiful video that allowed me to approach the memory of my dear Uncle Jorge.

In 1949 CF-AXE was owned by Central Northern Airlines and was stationed at Kississing Manitoba. I had the opportunity of flying in that great bush plane with such pilots as Jim Lapinski who later flew helicopters out of Calgary. Hank Parsons who with his brother formed his own flying serviced and Doug Rose who later became chief pilot for Trans air. The 82 was a good airplane and AXE haled a lot of fish out of South Indian Lake.

I flew N13934 in 1963/1964 for Abbott Aviation in Challis, Idaho (llJ) The plane was used for Idaho back country flying and was a great short field aircraft. It was powered with a PW r-985. It had a fold up bench along the left side that could seat 8 passengers. The cockpit had a small access door on the left side and the cabin had a large fold up door on the right side that was easy to open or close in flight. Abbott aviation did a lot of flying for the Challis National Forest Service and we dropped smoke jumpers and supplies on many forest fires. We also carried many hunters and fishermen into the back country and had a regular supply route to the many hunting and fishing lodges there. The 71 was a great plane to fly, sort of like a huge super cub. This one was sold to Franks Air Service in Caldwell, Id. in the late 1960's. I have seen picture's of the one in the museum but it doesn't look anything like the one I flew even though they use the same N number/ am other interesting thing about the one I flew as told to me by Paul Abbott is that it was used by Col. Byrd during his expedition to the North Pole. I have many pictures of the airplane as it was when I was flying it if anyone would like to see them just let me know.

The Fairchild 82A shown is CF-AXE. It was flown by Associated Air Taxi, Sea island. It was owned by Herman(Slim) Knights in 1952.I flew on it many times as a boy. Have many photo's of the "AXE" as it was known.

To Herb Shaw (post below). I could not find a way to make contact with your regarding your picture of AXL and two people on the pontoons. Could you send a message to my email or phone me at 250-479-7532 in Victoria, BC. I would like to get a copy of the picture. The fellow I flew with on AXL was Hans Vanderflugt (a wonderful, crazy Dutchman who ferried airplanes across the Atlantic in WW 2)

I could send to you if you are interested. There are two people in the picture. Perhaps one of them is you. One guy is getting his feet wet, and the other is standing on the pontoon.

I Flew the C-82 in Alaska for 6 years with Northern Air Cargo. We operated two of them. N4752C & N4753C. 52C has returned to the Air Force and is now in Dayton, OH at the AF museum. Great Air Craft. I had a lot of fun with it.

Fairchild PT-19, PT23, PT-26. I see no info on these aircraft as they were training aircraft used by the United States prior to and during the early part of WWII.

Ralph Addison, e-mail, 05.04.2010 16:16

I worked at Doug Hook's (Fly-In Fishing)Camp on Separation Lake about 70 miles north of Kenora near the Manitoba border and Ontario Central operated this plane serving our camp and many others in the summer of 1952 as I recall. Ralph Addison

AXL saw service with Ontario Central Airlines in the late 40's and early 50's. One of the first things Gordie Hollinsworth did was to have it re-engined with a 985 Wasp Jr. This they accomplished by cutting the engine and mounts from an Anson Mk V,and welding it to the 82 frame. With the Anson cowling up front it began to look fairly modern.

I used to fly CF-AXL, now in the Air Museum in Ottawa and was looking for pictures of the aircraft while it was in service in Canada. I am writing a short article for my family of the time I flew the aircraft around Cold Lake, LacLaBiche and various locations in NE Alberta.

At the time it was the largest aircraft I had flow and we hauled a lot of fish out of various lakes.

Thanks
