A correction to M. Francis Maigné's comment above.
D-IZAK was actually the D-code subsequently allocated to Werk-Nr. 121, D-2295. The documentary evidence is in the Bundesarchiv, file reference BA-MA RL 3 1834, on the sheet stamped 80.
So were there actually only eight Fw 47 C produced (and not 9)? What evidence supports the figure for a total of 9 x Fw 47 C?

Barry, 25.01.2013 17:11

I am sure Francis Maigne has given a lot of this information, but if you are like me just one step below schoolboy French this may help.
There were 35 models produced in a,C D and E versions. Production was between 1934 and 1036 with one further model an 'E' being built in 1939. The prototype of the Hohengeier was flown in June 1932 by Corneilius Edzard, who had taken over aircraft testing from Georg Wulf after the latter's death testing the Fw19 Ete. The initial 'a' model was powered by a 195/200hp Argus As10, the 'C' model was powered by a 240hp Argus As10C, and the 'D' and 'E' models were powered by a 270hp Argus As10 Dor E. Typically the Fw47 had a wing span of 10.57m and the 'D' model weighed in at 1475kg for take off. It has been reported that two Fw47 Hohengeier's survived the war.

Can you be so kind and write me more about the source of the fotograph, and secondly send me a higher resolution scan of that foto.
