david nelson, e-mail, 17.01.2025 18:35 there is a prop plane that is called the su-7, the su-7 you're thinking of is the su-7 (II) which is a jet.
| Barry, 11.01.2017 12:07 Kelly I think I would agree with you that the colour illustration is in fact an the Su-7. As I have stated elsewhere on this site the picture editing policy leaves much to be desired. Bjorn as is common place with Russian designations the type numbers are often repeated as is the case here, there was both a radial engine Su-7 and the later jet powered model.
| Bjrn, e-mail, 25.01.2016 17:32 Kelly, a Sukhoi 7?? That is a jet my dear boy !
| Pat Gilmore, e-mail, 28.12.2013 01:21 Kelly: All three illustrations are various forms of the Su-6. The radial engine Su-6M.82 was tested in both single seat and two seat configurations, same as the IL-2 and IL-2m, and the Su-6AM-42 was the inline engine version of the two seat Su-6M-82. It is with this latter, inline engine form that we are the most familiar.
| Kelly Wellington, e-mail, 14.05.2012 20:02 I don't think that the color picture, nor the triple-view diagram, presently on this page are of the Sukhoi Su-6. Instead, I think that they are misplaced Sukhoi Su-7 aircraft pictures. The Su-6 looks a lot more similar to the Il-2 Sturmovik...just look at the top photo, which is the Su-6; it has an in-line engine, rather than a radial engine like that shown in the color picture and the diagram.
