| The Adam A500 is a six-seat civil utility aircraft that was produced by Adam Aircraft Industries. The aircraft is of pod-and-boom, push-pull configuration with its two Continental IO-550 piston engines mounted to provide centerline thrust.
Adam Aircraft ceased operations on 11 February.
In April 2008 Adam Aircraft was purchased from bankruptcy by AAI Acquisition Inc. This new company has indicated that they will pursue certification of the A700 jet as a priority over restarting A500 production.

The aircraft was some 30% or 1,260 lb over it's designed empty weight! This effectively meant that with a full fuel load (230 US gallons) the available payload for crew passengers and baggage was 160 lb down from 720 lb. Effectively it meant you could not have a flight crew. In April 2008 a new company AAI Acquisition Inc purchased what remained of the company intending to develop the A700 as they did not see much of a market for piston engined aircraft at that time. They themselves went out of business without producing a thing in April 2009. The rump of the company was purchased by Triton Aerospace in April 2011 with the intention of putting the A500 back into production after major redesign - we await with baited breath.
