Rafael Barr�n Medrano, e-mail, 19.01.2010 21:18 Comenz� el anteproyecto en 1966, como avi�n de transporte ligero y carga, para despegue y aterrizaje STOL, equipado con dos turbinas Garrett TPE-331-2 de 755hp. El prototipo realiz� el primer vuelo el 26-III-1971, pilotado por el probador de CASA Ernesto Nienhuisen y el mec�nico Sr. Flor. El segundo prototipo vol� el 23-X-1971. Despu�s fu� dotado con motores Garrett 331-5 con un 3% m�s de potencia que los anteriores Se present� en el Sal�n de Le Bourg� en 1971 con h�lices cuetripalas. CASA entreg� el prototipo en el INTA el 27-III-1973 para su homologaci�n antes de adquirirlo el Ej�rcito del Aire. Fu� identificado como XT.12-1. Desde el primer momento en el INTA, fu� pilotado por el Capit�n Rafael Barr�n Medrano, perteneciente al 406 Escuadr�n de Experimentaci�n en Vuelo y el Sargento mec�_ nico Sr. Aramend�a. Cumplimentando las Ordenes de Ensayo para la homologaci�n de dicho avi�n, que termina el 16-V-74 habiendo volado m�s de 240 horas. Tom� parte el d�a de Puertas Abiertas,(3-X-1973) en Zaragoza, para demostrar todas las posibilidades del avi�n. Vol� con un peso de 6000Kg pilotado por R.Barr�n M. Despegue STOL,a 60m, ocho horizontal con un motor parado y 70� de inclinaci�n, pasada a velocidad m�nima 75Kts y toma STOL, rodaje marcha atr�s hasta salida de rodadura. El avi�n entra en servicio, en Espa�a,para el Ej�rcito del Aire en 1974. En 1983 el C.212-200 en versi�n SAR, con turbina Garrett de 900hp. Varias versiones fueron vendidas a Portugal, RIAF,EEUU Malta,Indonesia, Corea del Sur,Tailadia,Gab�n, Suiza,Zaire Austria, Per�, Costa Rica,Uruguay, Argentina, Venezuela, Abu Dhabi y Panam� entre otros muchos paises.
