Sikorsky S-8 Malyutka

The S-8 Malyutka (baby) was a side-by-side two-seat trainer with 50hp Gnome engine. The lower wings were left uncovered between the roots and first ribs to provide downward view. Top speed was only 80km/h. Sikorsky made a 90-minute night flight in the S-8 on 17 September 1912, landing back at Korpusnoi airfield by the light of bonfires lit by his ground crew.
