Only a fool would underestimate America's military. Come to think of it, quite a few have, and paid dearly for it. Japan is one notable example. They curbstomped Russia BTW. If they can do it, there's no reason the US couldnt do the same if the unfortunate were to happen, and war broke out. As for the Berkut, the SU-47 as amazing of an aircraft as it is, was just a tech demonstrator with no weapons. Also, if stealth is "cowardly", I guess that makes Russians "cowards" too, considering how much effort they've put into fielding their own 5th Generation fighter in the form of the Pak-Fa /Su-57. War isn't a boxing match. No side is looking for a fair fight. Everyone wants to win as quuckly and decisively with as minimal loss of life to ones own side as possible. Thats the point.
