Built as a development of the Vixen II as an Army Co-operation plane for the R.A.F. Six were ordered, but whilst they showed docile handling qualities they were longitudinally unstable and with a too long a landing run were regarded as too heavy for their intended role so all six were relegated to experimental roles until finally being struck off charge in 1933.
