Although flying for the first time on 25th June 1921 by October of that year the airframe was showing considerable wear. The basic problem was that the 12 cylinder water cooled Tiger engines were effectively two six cylinder Puma engines built around a common crank. Never being tested thoroughly the concept was doomed. Whilst two aircraft were ordered only one was built, at the end of the day it was just not good enough. reply |
