Ordered by the Air Ministry as an experimental long range monoplane, only two of these craft were produced. The second (G-EAYO)was built as a ten seat passenger craft but no airlines showed any interest in an untested monoplane so no orders were forthcoming. Both aircraft finished up at Martlesham Heath undergoing tests, the D.H.29 was the first aeroplane with a thick cantilever wing.
